EV Charging Engineering

Commercial & Residential

EV Charging Engineering: From a Single Charger to a Full Site

Right Angle Engineering provides electrical and structural engineering for EV charging installations of all types and scales. We produce permit-ready plans for Level 2 AC charging, DC fast charging (DCFC), and high-power charging sites, including single-unit residential installations and multi-stall commercial deployments.

EV charging permits require electrical plans that meet NEC requirements and local AHJ standards. We know what each jurisdiction expects and produce plans that move through plan check the first time. Our engineers are licensed in all 50 states.

EV Charging Project Types We Engineer

01

Level 2 AC Charging

Level 2 chargers operate at 208 or 240 volts and are the most common installation type for commercial parking facilities, multifamily properties, and workplace charging. We provide electrical plans that include load calculations, panel schedules, circuit routing, and conduit layouts. We size the electrical service to accommodate existing loads plus the new charger circuits.

02

DC Fast Charging (DCFC)

DC fast chargers operate at voltages up to 1,000 volts and require careful coordination between the electrical service, the DCFC equipment, and the utility. We produce single-line diagrams, load calculations, and site plans for DCFC installations, from single-dispenser installs to 20-stall charging sites. We flag utility coordination requirements early so the project does not stall waiting for transformer upgrades.

03

High-Power Charging

High-power charging infrastructure, including megawatt charging for commercial vehicles and fleet depots, requires engineering for the full electrical system from the utility service entrance to the charger. We handle service entrance design, transformer sizing recommendations, distribution system design, and permit documentation for high-power installations.

04

Fleet Charging and Depot Electrification

Fleet operators converting vehicle inventories to electric need electrical engineering that accounts for simultaneous charging demand, load management system integration, and future expansion capacity. We engineer fleet charging systems for logistics, transit, municipal, and commercial fleet applications.

Why Right Angle for EV Charging Engineering

EV charging permitting has not kept pace with the rate of EV deployment. Many engineers who handle standard electrical work are not familiar with the specific permit requirements for DCFC and high-power installations, which vary significantly by jurisdiction. Our engineers focus on EV charging projects and know what each AHJ requires.

We are licensed in all 50 states. Most EV charging projects are delivered within 48 hours. We stay available through plan check so that questions from the AHJ or the utility do not slow your project down.
