Structural Engineering for New Construction
Right Angle Engineering provides full structural engineering for new construction across all building types. We work with builders, developers, and general contractors who need PE-stamped plans delivered fast and accepted the first time.
New construction structural engineering requires attention to the full load path, from the roof framing through the walls and into the foundation. We handle all of it in-house, producing complete plan sets with calculations that meet IBC requirements and local code amendments.
Every Plan Set Includes
Everything You
Need to Permit
Custom Homes
Custom homes require structural engineering when a project includes non-standard framing, complex roof geometry, long spans, heavy loads, or when the jurisdiction requires stamped plans for residential construction. We provide full framing plans, foundation designs, connection details, and load calculations for custom single-family homes.
We work directly with the builder or the architect of record. Our plans are compatible with standard construction documents and can be incorporated into a full permit package without revision.
Multi-Family Buildings
Multi-family buildings — from duplexes and townhomes to larger apartment and condominium projects — require structural engineering across every phase of design. We produce structural plan sets for new multi-family construction including foundation design, floor and roof framing, shear wall layouts, and connection details.
Pre-Engineered Metal Building Foundations
Pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMBs) arrive with the superstructure designed by the manufacturer, but the foundation must be engineered separately for the specific site conditions and anchor bolt pattern provided by the manufacturer. We design PEMB foundations, including spread footings, slab-on-grade designs, and piers, for any site condition and soil type.
We coordinate with the PEMB manufacturer to confirm that the foundation design is compatible with the base plate and anchor bolt layout before producing the stamped drawings.
Wood-Framed Structures
Wood-framed residential and commercial buildings require structural engineering for lateral and gravity load systems. We design shear wall layouts, hold-down systems, diaphragms, and all associated connections. Our wood-framed structural plans meet IBC and AWC NDS requirements in all jurisdictions.
Cold-Formed Steel Structures
Cold-formed steel (CFS) framing is used in multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use construction where non-combustible framing is required. We design CFS structural systems for walls, floors, and roofs, including stud sizing, connection details, and lateral systems. Our designs comply with AISI S100 and applicable IBC requirements.
How It Works
Our New Buildings Process
We begin every new buildings project by reviewing the architectural documents, site conditions, and applicable code requirements. From there, we develop the structural design, starting with the foundation and working up through the lateral and gravity systems.
We produce a complete structural plan set with calculations and deliver it within the agreed turnaround window. Our typical turnaround for new building projects is one to three weeks, depending on project complexity. If the plan reviewer has questions, your engineer responds directly.

Why Right Angle for New Construction
We do not subcontract structural engineering. Every project is handled by one of our licensed PEs, who is available to answer questions from the permit reviewer, the builder, or the architect. We are licensed in all 50 states, so your project does not need a different engineer when it moves to a new jurisdiction.
We have completed more than 10,000 projects nationwide. That experience covers the full range of new building types and the local code nuances that go with them.
